On Saturday, in the first inning of the Yankees, who faced the Cubs, Giancarlo Stanton pushed oh and aaa among the faithful of the Bronx as he flew to the fences.
Cubs midfielder Christopher Morel returned to the warning track, put on his glove and robbed a potential Homer of Stanton. The catch silenced the crowd. Chicago decided to go on Twitter, mocking Yankees fans that “they think it’s all home run” and unconsciously Cubes was annoyed until the end of the weekend.
At the bottom of the fourth, shouts erupted again when Stanton made one of the toughest home runs in the history of StatCast. By the end of Saturday, the Yankees had hit six solo homers to capture an 8-0 victory.
And on Sunday, the Bronx bombers destroyed the Cubs with 18 runs – including four dingers.
In response, the Yankees Twitter account responded to the Cubs’ earlier tweet, which came out too early. The Bronx Bombers made 11 home runs in all three games combined, 10 of which were between Saturday and Sunday.
“Maybe it’s all a home run?” The Yankees teased on Twitter on Sunday, accompanied by a GIF of a hat worn by Nestor Cortes, who turns his index finger.
Cubbs’ latest response on Sunday was a tweet that said “Final: Yankees 18, Cubs 4.”
