The Yankees look hard to defeat as they continue to dominate

The little-known, lightweight Rays player Taylor Walls, in a moment of bold stupidity, suggested about a week ago that the Yankees were “very victorious.” This only proves that Wallace has no future in scouting after his days of playing ball are over.

The Yankees are very victorious in the sense that the Secretariat was very victorious.

Or Michael Phelps.

Or Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros.

The Yankees just beat people up every day. Some nights, like Friday, don’t even seem fair.

The Dodgers were supposed to be the best team in baseball and are now no better than a second. The Yankees’ 13-0 win over the Tigers on a cool night in the Bronx was the most dominant performance of the season so far.

Yankees ace Gerrit Cole was perfect on the field for two bits in the seventh inning, before Jonathan Schope lined up single on the center field to stop the story. It was the second night in a row that the Yankees title threatened history textbooks after Jameson Taylon delivered a perfect game on the eighth night the night before.

The Yankees are a threat to do something special and they did it almost two nights in a row.

This time they even had room for a very pleasant nostalgia, and the boy to return, Manny Banuelos, made his Yankee debut a decade after he was to become the club’s next ace. Banuelos threw two high innings after Cole’s seven.

“We hit, we played a good D and Manny came in. “It was a good night,” Cole said.

Aaron Judge posted a night with four hits, including his 20th Homer, while the chanted “MVP” sounded on the judge’s night. But then, when the team achieved its fourth consecutive victory and eighth victory in 10 matches, there was talk of both Banuelos and the two biggest stars of the team.

“I am just a very happy person. “My dream has come true,” Banuelos said, causing tears in his eyes, even among hardened reporters. “It’s amazing – everyone knows it’s a great team. Being a part of it is huge. ”

This team looks so good, its biggest obstacle is the record book, as the league seems to be a bit of a challenge lately.

The Angels brought here the supposed best players in the sport earlier this week and left the Bronx bruised, battered and swept away. So what did one of the Tigers expect, the modern pre-season choice that turned out to be toothless?

Surprise star Jose Trevino plus surprise star Matt Carpenter and Anthony Rizzo joined Judge in Homer’s brigade. Carpenter has four Homers in his first five games as a Yankee, outside the scrap heap (he is the third to do so in stripes, joining Dave Kingman and Eric Hinske).

The Yankees turned out to be very different from what we all imagined, and really very different from what Wallace suggested.

Shall we win? Perhaps.

Will we win a lot? Hardly.

Of course, they are victorious the way every team loses matches here or there. Even the 1998 Yankees, the modern hallmark of baseball excellence, lost 48 games. So technically, the team that won 114 games was also defeated.

“I think everyone here knows how good we are,” said Isaiah Kiner-Falefa.

They know where they stand and right now it’s at the top of the pile. Their record of 37-15 is the best in the game.

It also puts them at 114 victories, the same as the 1998 team.

For those who watched them, they have to fight to reach the playoffs last year and follow it, watching mostly how their competitors spend, it’s still a little hard to believe.

They strengthened the short stop, added a talented but aging irritant for third, exchanged the middle relays with the Mets and most of all hoped for the best.

However, leaving aside the unknown critics of the rivals, so far we can say that it is not a coincidence.

The pen is good, the rotation is better and the judge has to clear his trophy box for the upcoming MVP.

Cole finished the evening with two shots and no walks until he struck out nine. Twice he hit the side. The perfectionist was almost perfect.

Cole has heated up and suffered criticism, as only the extraordinary is expected, after he signed a record-breaking $ 324 million pitcher, a nine-year contract. But honestly, he’s a real ace.

Two others also play like that. Cole himself supported Nestor Cortes, who comes from Baltimore, Seattle and all over the world, to deceive attacker after attacker, for his own hardware as the leader of Cy Young.

And it looks like Taillon, the third ace, has finally arrived as a star. After being selected second overall in the 2010 MLB Star Draft, right between Bryce Harper and Manny Machado, Tylon underwent two Tommy John treatments and an even more serious test for testicular cancer. So, like Cortes, somehow it is also late flowering.

Greatness seems to come to the people when they leave Pittsburgh. The newer Clay Holmes, who, like Cole and Taylon, started in Pittsburgh, was almost perfect.

Which means he has something else to do with Cole.

Lately, in fact, the whole team looked almost perfect.
