Firefighters from a number of fire stations have dealt with a fire at the Falmouth Ranch, which has cut off part of the area and fears it could spread to residential apartments. Shortly after 1:40 p.m., the fire department received a series of calls from the public who saw smoke rising from a large wooden property in Event Square in Falmouth.
The Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the teams were called to the fire earlier this afternoon, stating on its website: “Critical control has accepted a large number of calls to a fire in a shopping area in Event Square in Falmouth. Four crews from Falmouth, Tolvadon and Truro are present. “

They went on to say that firefighters would remain at the scene to ensure there were no “hot spots” and possible flames in the structure.
It is alleged that the fire started in the restaurant’s kitchen and may have moved to an apartment on the first floor, although this has not yet been confirmed by official sources.

At the scene, the fire manager told Cornwall Live reporter Evi Townend: “We were called to the Event Square fire at 1:43 p.m. this afternoon. Initially, the fire was in the Ranch. Initially, the fire was limited to the air duct [hot] air from the kitchen. We put it out pretty quickly. It was quite difficult conditions because the kitchen is quite small and the crews worked very well.
“Then we started a thorough inspection of the apartments in the area and found that the metal lining of the pipeline dissipated heat in different pieces of wood on three different floors in the apartments, which caused small fires.
“Because we were going to turn one off and we thought we were done, something else was going to happen, and then something else was going to happen. So, we closed all the doors and opened a window to check and then quickly realized that there was a reasonable fire in the attic, so we turned on four respirators again, had to rip out all the walls and now we put out the fire completely and now we will be here for another hour, we muffle and make sure it’s 100 percent out.
“We’ve worked with paramedics and the police, so there’s a good job, and tomorrow we’ll have a full fire investigation team to find out why this happened.”
The fire incident manager said all the restaurants on the property had been closed and the fire brigade had initially evacuated the Maritime Museum – adding that when the crews arrived, “there were about 5,000 people from Falmouth Pride here to congratulate us. make an interesting challenge too “.

He said the crews worked very hard in hot conditions, in a small space and the fire “could be much worse”. He added that there had never been a particularly large fire, but the difficulty came because it was “difficult to reach”.
Toby Lamb, co-owner of The Ranch, said: “Completely upset that we had to close on a busy day like today, especially with Pride. I would never wish a fire on anyone.
“I suspect the Ranch will be closed for a week, but I hope other Shed businesses open later today. I sympathize with everyone and hope that the festivities are not disrupted. The bottom line is that everyone is safe and it could have been worse. “
Chantel Lewis, who lives across the street, called firefighters. She said: “Because it was a wooden building, it could have been much worse. They reacted very quickly and the event square was evacuated calmly, without noise.
“First I saw black smoke, then flames. This is the external fan, so there is probably a lot of grease and grease that rises quickly. “It surprises you, but I hope no one was hurt.”
