Three men died after a small boat capsized in a storm on a lake in Texas

ALON, Texas – Three men have died after their small boat capsized on a lake in North Texas during a severe storm over the weekend, authorities said.

The boat capsized in Lake Lavon on Saturday night, the Colin County Sheriff’s Office said. There were four men on board, and one managed to hold on to a tree and call for help, the sheriff’s office said.

Texas Game Wardens rescued the man clinging to the tree and learned that the other three boats were missing, leading to a search for water and air on the lake about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northeast of Dallas.

Authorities said the body of one man was found early Sunday, another was found Sunday night and a third was found Monday. The Colin County Sheriff identified the dead as Jose Maria Dominguez III, 60; Julio Bibiano-Gonzalez, 34; and Rafael Bibiano-Olea, 30. All were residents of the Plano area, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
