Three teenagers arrested after a woman got off the bus, attacked and robbed

Three teenage girls are facing charges after Winnipeg police said a woman was followed by a bus, attacked and robbed with a knife.

Police say the robbery took place around 1:30 a.m. Friday at block 1700 on the Pembina highway. Respondents found an injured 23-year-old woman. She was being treated for her injuries when an ambulance arrived.

Two people were arrested in the Wildwood Park area that day, with the Department of Serious Crime arresting a third person at their home on Saturday.

Police believe the woman and the three detainees were on the same transit bus. Police say that when the woman got off the bus, the three followed her, attacked her without provocation and robbed her.

“It is believed that one of the suspects brandished a knife during the robbery,” police said in a statement.

Two 16-year-old girls have been charged with robbery and possession of a weapon, and a 13-year-old girl has been charged with robbery. None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Police said all three teenagers were released in the manner prescribed by the Penal Code.

Anyone with video surveillance in the area or who may have seen the robbery is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
