The Conservative deputy chief whip resigned after admitting he had “embarrassed himself and other people.”
In a letter to Prime Minister Chris Pincher, he said: “I drank too much last night. I have embarrassed myself and other people, which is the last thing I want to do and I apologize to you and those affected.
“I think the right thing to do in these circumstances is to resign as deputy chief whip. I owe it to you and the people I have caused the disorder to do. ”
