Tornado-producing storms are spreading in the south today

Increased risk – level 3 of 5 – for severe storms is forecast in East Texas, southern Arkansas and northwestern Louisiana, including Shreveport.

“Destructive wind, hail and some tornadoes are expected,” the Storm Forecast Center said.

Mild risk – level 2 of 5 – surrounds the high-risk area and covers nearly 10 million people, including Dallas and Austin in Texas and Memphis, Tennessee. The same severe impacts threaten these places, but with a slightly lower probability of dangerous conditions than those in the high-risk area.

“Heavy storms are likely to be dispersed, mainly from the afternoon to the early evening in parts of central to eastern Texas in the Middle South. The main danger should be destructive winds, but isolated tornadoes and hail will also be possible, “the forecast center said.

The tornado clock is in effect until 18:00 CDT for parts of northeast and central Texas, southwest Arkansas and northwest Louisiana. Nearly six million people are in the surveillance zone, which includes Austin, Waco and Tyler in Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana.

To the east of the tornado clock, a strong thunderstorm was observed for southeastern Arkansas, northern Mississippi and southwestern Tennessee. This watch is valid until 20:00 CDT and includes Memphis. Although a tornado cannot be ruled out in this area, wind and hail will be the biggest threat.

“Besides, the heavy rain will be associated with these thunderstorms,” the forecast center said.

This can lead to sudden floods, especially in urban areas and along small streams. Sudden flood clocks are published in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas until Thursday night.

Storm chasers clog the roads around the tornado

The tornado caused by these storms roared on Wednesday in an area known for chasing storms.

Live streams of tornadoes came from storm chasers in Texas.

And helicopter news stations filmed the storms in Oklahoma.

Sometimes storm chasers clog the roads as they try to catch a glimpse of catastrophic weather, their live broadcasts showed.

The storms left power lines and buildings damaged in Seminole, Oklahoma.

The southeastern and mid-Atlantic are threatened on Friday

By Friday, this system of storms will be moving across the southeast and mid-Atlantic, again threatening isolated tornadoes, damaging wind and hail.

An increased risk of severe storms – level 3 of 5 – has been issued for parts of central Alabama and Georgia, including Montgomery, Alabama and Macon, Georgia.

More than 60 million people will be threatened by severe storms on Friday from the Mid-Atlantic to the Persian Gulf.

Levels 1 and 2 of 5 surround increased risk and include Atlanta, Charlotte, New Orleans, and Washington, DC.
