The Tornado Warning for Rocky View Co. near Cochrane, Bragg Creek and the Tsuut’ina Nation on Thursday afternoon has been lifted.
At about 4:30 p.m., Environment and Climate Change Canada said forecasters were tracking a severe thunderstorm located 15 kilometers south of Cochrane moving east at approximately 20 km/h.
Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes, according to the alert.
The tornado watch issued for Calgary has also been lifted.
A tornado warning issued earlier Thursday afternoon for other parts of central Alberta has been lifted by the ECCC.

A critical warning issued by the Alberta Emergency Warning Service at 2:37 p.m. said a rotating severe thunderstorm that possibly produced a tornado was located near Sundre and was mostly stationary.

By 2:47 p.m., the thunderstorm had spawned a tornado near Schantz, Alta.
People in the area were told to seek shelter immediately.
Several areas of central and southern Alberta remained under severe thunderstorm watches and warnings.
