Police say the driver was lucky with only minor injuries after her car fell off an overpass, nearly landing on Highway 1 on Thursday.
The crash happened around 8:15 pm on the Grandview overpass in Burnaby.
Police said a 40-year-old woman passed through the guardrail and threw herself about 12 meters away. Photos from the scene show that the guardrail was completely broken in one section and bent towards the road below.
The vehicle landed on its wheels, not far from the traffic on the highway.
The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and police told CTV News Vancouver they had never seen anything like it.
Investigators said the injury was not considered a factor.
