Trump backed Miller and spearheaded a rally in Illinois on Saturday for Trump’s first term and supporter, Davis, who has been in neighboring District 13 for a decade, competed against Miller for the newly drawn, strong red seat in the central state, which contains large parts of its present area.

Davis was one of 35 Republicans in the House of Representatives who last year voted for a bipartisan and independent commission to investigate the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, by right-wing extremists and other Trump supporters who aimed to to violate Congressional certification of President Joe Biden for the 2020 election victory. The bill to set up the committee was rejected in the Senate, and Democrats in the House of Representatives eventually set up a Democrat-dominated committee to investigate the storming of the Capitol.

Davis showed that his “record includes supporting the drafting of Trump’s tax cuts bill, supporting the development of student loan programs based on private sector employers.” These are the Republican ideas that I was able to help draft and work on, and some of them ended up being signed by law by President Trump during his administration. “
