Trump criticizes Pence after Jan. 6 hearing: “Human Conveyor Belt”

Former Vice President Trump has criticized former Vice President Mike Pence, calling it a “human conveyor belt” for failing to support efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election following a House of Representatives hearing on Thursday (January 6th).

“Mike Pence had a chance to be great. He had a chance to be frankly historical. But just like [former Attorney General] “Bill Bar and the rest of these weak people, Mike, and I say it sadly because I like him, but Mike didn’t have the courage to act,” Trump said as he commented on the Faith and Freedom event in Nashville, Tennessee.

“The election was perfect. And the Democrats are sitting and saying, “There’s no way we can impeach this man.” No, it’s awful, “he continued. But Mike was afraid of everything he was afraid of. But, as you heard a year and a half ago, Mike Pence had absolutely no choice but to be a human conveyor belt – he was a human conveyor belt – even if the voices were deceptive. They said he had to send the votes – there was nothing he could do. “

Trump has repeatedly made unsubstantiated allegations that the 2020 presidential election was tainted by widespread voter fraud. He also called the election “rigged.” However, federal and state election officials found no significant evidence of widespread election fraud.

In addition, dozens of legal challenges raised by the former president’s legal team to overturn the results of the 2020 elections have largely failed.

The former president’s remarks came after a House committee held its third public hearing in June, focusing on the Pence-Trump relationship. The hearing examined alleged efforts to put pressure on the former vice president to overturn the 2020 election results.

Before January 6, 2021, Trump argued that Pence could overturn election results while presiding over the Senate during the certification process in Congress. Then Pence publicly refused to do so.

Earlier, Pence said at an event in February that he had no power to overturn the results of the last presidential election.

“President Trump is wrong. “I had no right to cancel the election,” Pence said at the time. “The presidency belongs to the American people and only to the American people. Honestly, there is almost no idea more non-American than the idea that anyone can elect the American president.
