Two people have been charged with conspiracy to organize a child’s trip to the United Kingdom for organ harvesting.
The Sofia police confirmed the arrests after an investigation by the specialized criminal team of the forces.
Beatrice Nouaneka Ekveremadou, 55, and Ike Ekveremadou, 60, of Nigeria, have been charged with plotting to organize another person’s trip to take their organs.
Both have been remanded in custody and will appear before the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court later today, the Metropolitan said.
The investigation began after detectives were warned of potential crimes under modern slavery law in May 2022.
The metropolitan said the child was protected and the forces were working closely with support partners.
