Two killed, 3 wounded in “targeted” shooting in North Indiana, police said

Two people were killed and three were injured in what appeared to be a targeted shooting at a home in North Indiana, police said.

The incident happened on Saturday around 3:20 pm, when an emergency call announced that five people were “seriously injured” in a shooting, the Goshen police department announced on Facebook.

One man was pronounced dead on the spot, while another died after being transported to a hospital in Goshen, police said.

An additional three victims of the shooting were transported to district hospitals. Two women were transported by air to a trauma hospital in Fort Wayne, and a third woman was taken to a trauma hospital in South Bend, police said.

“Although the investigation is ongoing, preliminary information shows that the shooting was directed, not gang-related, and there does not appear to be any additional danger to the community at the moment,” Goshen police said.

Elkhart County Homicide Squad is leading an investigation into the shooting, police said.
