Two people have been charged after allegedly knocking down a Liberal candidate in Brampton.
The incidents took place last week on a residential street in Brampton West and were captured by a camera.
A video provided to CTV News by the Ontario Liberal Party appears to show a man ripping a campaign sign off a lawn and walking away with half of it after it broke.
Another video shows a man getting out of a white van before approaching a wooden fence with a campaign sign. He can then be seen removing the sign and returning it to his van.
The damaged plates belonged to Rimi Judge, who was running.
The van seen in the video has the logo and name of Camp Forming Inc., a contractor of the Vaughn-based foundation. After the videos appeared, the company said it would investigate because they did not approve of the behavior.
Hours later, the company said it had fired two employees who were allegedly involved in the incident and handed them over to police.
Police in Peel said on Saturday that a 25-year-old man from Mississauga and a 23-year-old man from Brampton had been charged with theft of less than $ 5,000 and mischief of less than $ 5,000.
They have been released and are expected to appear in court at a later date.
After handing over the two men to police, Cristina Campoli, vice president of Camp Forming, visited Jhajj’s office and apologized for the actions of her staff.
“I really appreciate her coming out to apologize and especially to tell the police,” Gage told CTV News Toronto.
“We hope this will help us solve this problem, and I hope again that we can all move forward in a respectful way.”
