NORTH ST. LOUISE DISTRICT (KMOV) – Two men are facing charges in connection with a fatal explosion at home that occurred in northern St. Louis County on Friday morning.
Terrell Cooks, 37, and Seneca Mahan, 43, both from North City, are charged with second-degree murder that threatens the welfare of a child and illegal possession of a weapon.
Authorities say Cooks and Mahan produced fireworks in the garage of a house on Block 6600 on Parker Road. The garage exploded early Friday morning. The bodies of 21-year-old William Jones and 18-year-old Demario Cooks have been found in the rubble. Christopher Jones, 17, was taken to hospital, where he later died. Travel Eason, 16, also died in the blast. A 12-year-old child living in the home received minor injuries.
Police told News 4 that both suspects admitted to producing fireworks that had an explosive charge exceeding the limit in state law and made the victims help them. None of the suspects had a license to produce fireworks. The two are also accused of selling fireworks. During a search of Cooks’ car and home, police said they found fireworks and the materials used to make them.
Both defendants were detained on $ 350,000 bail in cash.
