Two men have died in a crash on Dryden Street in Bradford

TWO people have died after a car crashed into a wall in Bradford, police have confirmed.

West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Investigation Team (MCET) would like to speak to anyone who saw or has CCTV footage of the incident which happened in Dryden Street, Bradford, last night.

It happened around 11.30pm. The Audi SQ5 crashed into a wall after failing to negotiate a left turn.

As a result of the impact, the 24-year-old driver of the car was seriously injured.

A second man, also aged 24, who was a passenger in the car, has died, West Yorkshire Police confirmed this afternoon.

A third man was also taken to hospital for non-life threatening treatment.

The two men who died in the crash have been identified as Muhammad Azad Khan and Arsalan Baig.

Teams from Bradford, Shipley and Odsall were also on the scene.

DS Fiona Allan, from the Major Collision Investigation Team, said: “A number of inquiries are continuing today into this apparently very serious collision which has sadly resulted in the loss of a young man’s life.

“The Audi was traveling along Dryden Street off Shipley Airedale Road when the crash happened and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw the car in the moments before the collision or the crash itself.

City councilor Nazam Azam spoke about the impact of such crashes on the families of the victims

Meanwhile, a Bradford district councilor has spoken of his shock at the incident and the impact such crashes on the city’s roads have on the families of the victims.

Cllr Nazam Azam (Lab, City): “Too many young lives are being lost.

“Too many families are going through avoidable devastation and trauma.

“You cannot begin to imagine the devastation that the families, friends and loved ones of those involved in this incident will be going through now.

“I would say to the youth, please, for the sake of your family and loved ones, be careful on the roads.

“The devastation caused to families in such incidents is unimaginable.

“Families have to grieve losses like these that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

“Youth need to take responsibility and think about the impact your loved ones, family and friends will go through.

“Incidents like this are something we need to deal with in this area.”
