Two students were stabbed in Mississauga High School

A 15-year-old man is in custody after two students were injured in a stabbing at a Mississauga high school on Tuesday afternoon, Peel Regional Police said.

Employees were called to the high school “St. Marcellin ”in the area of ​​Courtnipark Drive and Mavis Road, at 12:20 pm for signals of disturbances in the school property.

The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear, but several witnesses who spoke to CTV News Toronto said the suspect approached a group of students on the school’s football field during lunch and pulled out a knife.

Video obtained from the network shows that the suspect is holding a knife just below his belt just before the stabbing.

“We were just going to play football at lunch and then this man was just shouting and talking to all of us and then he came out on our field,” said 11th grader Nartan Dubai. “He just started getting angry and pushing everyone. We tried to dispel the situation and make him calm down, and then he pulled out his knife. “

10th grader Dayton Horn told CTV News Toronto that he started filming the suspect after seeing the knife. But he said the suspect took the phone out of his hands and then started swinging the knife, spotting one of the teenagers in the neck.

Another video received by CTV News Toronto shows some of the aftermath of the incident.

It shows a group of students chasing an individual and eventually pushing him to the ground. Then at least one person is seen kicking that person while on the ground.

“We tried to get the knife out of his hand and then we just pushed him to the ground,” Dubai told CTV News Toronto. “His friends just told him to back off, and he eventually left.

St. Marcellin was closed for about an hour, and Mississauga High School, about 650 meters to the east, was in custody for the same period.

Police said the suspect fled the scene.

At around 3:30 pm, police tweeted that a 15-year-old suspect had been found and detained and that appropriate charges would be brought.

It is unclear whether the suspect is a student at the school.
