Two young teenagers were shot near Central Park

A 13-year-old and a 14-year-old were shot dead outside Central Park on Saturday night, police and sources said.

The shooting took place shortly before 5 pm near 110th Street and 5th Avenue in Haarlem, near the northeast corner of the park, police said.

There were two groups of teenagers hanging out on opposite sides of 5th Avenue when shots were heard, according to law enforcement sources. It is unclear whether the injured teenagers were on one side or the opposite of the street.

The 13-year-old boy was shot in the right leg, and the 14-year-old was hit in the left biceps and received a wound in the abdomen, sources said.

Both victims were transported to Haarlem Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.

No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made, cops said.

Five 9mm shell casings were found at the scene, sources said.
