Sergey Pavlovich is much happier with his performance against Derrick Lewis than the crowd at UFC 277 in Dallas, Texas. Pavlovic stopped Lewis with a TKO in the first round that had people screaming for an early stoppage.

Pavlovic and Lewis threw skin from the start. “The Black Beast” was intent on putting on a show for his home state, immediately pinning Pavlovic against the fence. Pavlovic floored Lewis with a counter right hook that tripped him up. The Russian heavyweight chased Lewis across the Octagon and unleashed powerful punches. Referee Dan Miragliotta intervened the moment Pavlovic dropped his foe.

Lewis quickly jumped to his feet and protested the stop. The roof blew off the American Airlines Center as the crowd roared in disapproval of Pavlovic’s victory.

Pavlovich was pleased with the stoppage in a post-fight interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan. Pavlovic said through an interpreter that he had his work cut out for him and was ready to unload on Lewis during the fight.

Pavlovich (16-1) has finished every fight of his UFC career in the first round and boasts four straight knockout victories. Lewis (26-10, 1 NC) lost back-to-back fights for the second time in his UFC career.
