The Bloody Elbow team made their choice for Saturday’s UFC Vegas 56 card and we are barely close to Jairzinho Rozenstruik’s victory over Alexander Volkov in the main event. As for the co-main event, Steffi Haynes is the only one who goes with Dan Ige against Movsar Evloev. To see the latest betting lines for these matches, go to the DraftKings Sportsbook.
Note: Predictions are entered throughout the week and are collected the day before the event. No explanation is required for each choice, and some authors choose not to do so for their own reasons. For example, if Zane Simon entered all his predictions on Wednesday without adding any explanation, he has no idea if he will be the only one on the side of a fighter for a battle.
Alexander Volkov vs. Jairzinho Rosenstruick
Muki Alexander: I would have conveniently chosen Volkov a few years ago. I think it’s been so long since Volkov actually looked good and confident in battle. There is something in this match with Derrick Lewis that may have changed him. His victory over Greg Hardy is getting so bad, considering he chose to have a cool kickboxing match due to alleged fears that Hardy could hurt him with a big blow. The loss to Aspinal is perhaps the worst he has ever looked at, and while this may be due to Aspinal, Volkov is usually less uncompetitive. So we have essentially the same dynamics of the battle with Lewis when we talk about the battle with Rosenstruyk, except that Rosenstruyk is not easily injured and is more technical. I have a feeling that Volkov can win much of this battle only with activity, until he does, which means that Rosenstruyk will land something massive and Volkov will fall apart. I’m pretty sure I won’t like every second of this race if it doesn’t end in a knockout. Jairzinho Rosenstruik with technical knockout, 4th round.
Zane Simon: I just don’t think Volkov is fast enough to dive in and out of range while hitting Rosenstruyk for any length of time. He even seemed a step slower lately, struggling to maintain cardio and pace even in fights where it seemed like a clear advantage. And while there is certainly room for Volkov to take takedowns and run a really decent decent top game, he just doesn’t start a lot of fighting unless his opponent tries to catch up with him first and it won’t be part of the Rosenstruyk game. Add the recent change of camp and his own confession that he is fighting in his performances, and I will take Jairzinho Rozenstruik by technical knockout, round 2.
The staff chooses Volkov: Victor, Dane. The staff chooses Rosenstruyk: Muki, Zane, Steffi
Dan Ige v. Movsar Evloev
Mookie Alexander: It’s hard because Ige has really good striking power and it’s really hard for most fighters to beat, given his well-rounded game. It is difficult to shake off how often he throws a round in the top three and how this seems like a speedy path to loss with a clear decision from Evloev. He will fight and will have an advantage on the carpet that you would suspect. I feel that Ige’s best path to victory is to keep it on its feet and look at the blows with force, but that’s easier said than done. Movsar Evloev with a unanimous decision.
Zane Simon: I’m a little worried about what happens to Evloev when he encounters a really powerful blow that can be adjusted to his rather predictable game plan. And while I’m not sure Ije is the best tuning fighter in the world, he absolutely has the power to make Evloev pay, especially if he manages to catch Evloev early when he’s in his pocket. Still, while Ige is a capable grappler, it’s hard not to remember how TKZ took him down and wrapped him in dominant positional control in their battle and assume that Evloev can’t do the same. Even if I think that there may be some really hairy moments, I have to take Movsar Evloev by decision.

Michael Trizano vs. Lucas Almeida
Zane Simon: Lucas Almeida starts very fast, with a lot of power and a well-formed counter. Along with his penchant for jumping to fast sub-targets, there’s a really good chance he’ll scare Trizano into the first round of this battle. However, after the battles began to last a little longer, Almeida’s shallow game began to become much more obvious and he lost steam quite quickly. Trizano has always been really hard to hurt and has become harder to steal rounds as he learns to fight behind his blow. Do not think that Almeida can take this if she covers the distance. Michael Trizano by decision.
The staff chooses Trizano: Muki, Zane, Dane, Steffi. The staff chooses Almeida:
Poliana Botelho vs. Carine Silva
Zane Simon: A difficult battle for choice. Botelho tends to start battles with all the right ideas, throwing force, dominating clinch positions, hitting takedowns. But it is pressed so hard and with so much tension on the road that the decline in efficiency for it is usually sharp. On the other hand, Karine Silva’s play was disheartening. She has trouble finding range with her punches and a remarkable willingness to pull the guard and work from full guard on her back for long stretches. I will take Poliana Botelho just because she fights at this level, knows what to expect and starts strong. But this battle may get a little ugly as it goes on. Poliana Botelho by decision.
The staff chooses Botelho: Muki, Zane, Dane, Steffi. The staff chooses Silva:
Alonzo Menfield vs. Askar Mozharov
Mookie Alexander: When the map starts, Mozharov’s actual record will be 56-189. Alonso Menfield by knockout, 1 round.
Zane Simon: In Mozharov’s last loss, he touched an elbow from the top control. I take Alonzo Menfield by technical knockout, round 1.
The staff selects Menifield: Muki, Zane, Dane, Steffi. The staff chooses Mozharov:
Zaruh Adashev vs. Ode ‘Osborne
Zane Simon: Adashev’s game is terribly limited at this point in his career. He managed to get out of the gate and functionally deactivate Ryan Benoit with low kicks for his only UFC victory, but even after putting Benoit on one leg for the first 30 seconds, he still felt like a fighter trying to find his zone. of comfort in the cage. Osborne is a rare lightweight category that can fight range and he uses it well. He must also have a strong advantage in speed. Oda Osbourne by decision.
