Vernon RCMP and the British Columbia Coroners Service are investigating the death of a man found in critical condition on Cal Beach late Sunday.

Just after 10.30pm, police were called to Coldstream Beach after a witness reported seeing a man in the water who possibly needed help.

Officers pulled the unresponsive man ashore and called for help.

Additional officers arrived at the scene and police continued CPR on the victim until medical assistance arrived.

Coldstream Fire and Paramedics tried to revive the man but the 27-year-old man from Langley was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We want to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Neil Boddy.

The circumstances leading to the man’s death are being investigated, but according to initial data, no crime is suspected.

The British Columbia Coroner’s Office is conducting an independent fact-finding investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means he died.
