Updated: Collision with a motor vehicle that closed Highway 144 with a fatal end

The collision closed all lanes of Highway 144 near Onaping, according to the Ministry of Transport, and will last approximately eight hours.

The collision with a motor vehicle that closed Highway 144 between Dowling Falls and Onaping Falls was fatal.

A press release from OPP notes that the accident happened around 1:30 pm today and involved two vehicles.

An initial investigation revealed that a commercial vehicle and a car were involved in the collision, and one of the vehicles caught fire.

A dead driver of the car was found on the spot. Their names will not be announced until their relatives are notified.

The collision is under investigation and will lead to the closure of the highway in both directions for approximately eight hours, according to an OPP press release issued at 5.30pm. treat the scene.
