“Very unlikely” Boris Johnson will serve three terms, says William Hague

Nicolas Sturgeon will unveil today his plan to hold a second referendum on Scottish independence, with the SNP leader heading to October next year to hold the vote (you can read the full story here).

Ms Sturgeon is expected to explain how she intends to bypass the UK government by refusing to authorize the vote.

Chris Philip, the technology minister, said this morning that Ms. Sturgeon should respect the outcome of the 2014 referendum, which was supposed to be a “once in a generation” event.

He told Sky News: “We had a referendum in 2014, the Scots handed down their sentence with a very clear difference of 10 points.

“Nicola Sturgeon at the time and her mentor at the time, Alex Salmond, told the Scottish people very clearly that this would be a one-generation referendum, it was only a few years ago, it is not a one-time referendum.

“I think Nicholas Sturgeon should respect the will of the Scottish people, which was so clearly expressed in this referendum.
