Northern Ireland fire chiefs have joined in condemning a sick video of a song mocking the death of murdered bride Michaela McArievy.
Rumors circulated on the Internet that one of the people involved in the disgraceful behavior in a room decorated with the insignia of the Orange Order and Union flags was an active firefighter. But the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service is using its social media feeds to dispel the speculation.
As politicians from all parties condemned the people involved, the service said: “We fully condemn the social media video related to the tragic death of Michaela McArievy. The information online that one of the people involved is a firefighter is incorrect. He is a former employee and has not worked with IFRS for several years. “
It is not clear where and when the video was shot. But Grand Orange Lodge announced an investigation into the circumstances.
The song mocks the murder of 27-year-old teacher Michaela, the daughter of former Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Hart. She was killed 10 days after her honeymoon in Mauritius in 2011, but no one has yet been convicted of the crime.
Her husband John spoke about the vile song in a statement on his Twitter account. He wrote: “Michael was a court of love, courage and dignity. Hatred can hurt, but never win.”

Meanwhile, two men issued a statement apologizing for their participation in the video. John Bell and Andrew McDade said it was a matter of “great shame and regret” that they participated in the video.
The men said in a statement that they had participated in a live video on Facebook that was not specifically designed to broadcast the singing, but acknowledged that “the relevant chants should never have been sung in public or in private.”
Grand Orange Lodge said it was investigating the incident, and PSNI said it was looking at the video for evidence of whether crimes had been committed. A Linfield FC volunteer coach has been fired for his role in the video
