The Golden State Warriors are one victory away from the NBA Finals after beating the Dallas Mavericks 109-100 in Game 3 on Sunday night. Driven by 31 points from Stephen Curry and 27 points from Andrew Wiggins, Golden State reaffirmed its dominance over Dallas to lead 3-0 in the series.
Luka Doncic tried to win the Mavericks with 40 points, 11 rebounds and three assists, but again, despite a combined 46 points from Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinuidi, Dallas did not have enough in the tank to complete the victory. return to this series.
The Warriors will try to end this series on Tuesday, and if they do, they will wait for the winner of the Boston Celtics-Miami Heat series in the Eastern Conference.
Here are three excerpts from Game 3 in Dallas.
1. Andrew Wiggins, bow
Let’s just look at this absurd kick that Wiggins made against Doncic in the fourth quarter.
This is Dunk of the Year material right there. In fact, it’s better than any of the dunks we saw during the All-Star Weekend dunk race earlier this season. That scoring was the icing on the cake for another Wiggins stellar performance, which ended in a career-high 27-point career record, along with 11 boards and three assists while shooting 55 percent of the field.
Wiggins was exceptional for Golden State in all series, averaging more than 20 points, while completing the most difficult task in defense, guarding Doncic from the other side of the floor. While Doncic is still getting his points, Wiggins is making it incredibly difficult for the Slovenian superstar and somehow still finds enough energy to finish such shots in the fourth quarter, despite playing the most minutes of each Warriors player.
Wiggins has changed from being sometimes the second best player on this team to being the perfect player to be at Golden State when Curry and Clay Thompson are in trouble. His steady performance at both ends of the floor, which includes six offensive fights, is part of the reason Dallas spent so little time trying to keep this Warriors team.

2. Dallas role players do not appear in a critical game 3
When the Mavericks lost 0-2 in the semifinals of the conference against the Phoenix Suns, they responded with four of their five starters scoring double-digit points to grab a win in Game 3. Reggie Bullock, Dorian Feeney-Smith and Maxi Kleber combined 43 points. in this match to give Dallas – and Doncic – the boost they needed to get back into the series.
It wasn’t like that on Sunday night. While Doncic received a lot of help from his colleagues from the back field in Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinuidi, who combined 46 points, Bullock scored 0-10 from the field in 39 minutes. Feeney-Smith had only nine points, while Kleber also finished with zero points at 0-5 from the field. When all three of these guys shoot so badly, Dallas won’t win many games.
Although Dallas managed to keep it close to the last bell, unlike the previous two races in this series, it just didn’t feel like they could make a legitimate title without guys like Bullock, Feeney-Smith and Kleber hitting.
3. Warriors win one distance from the NBA Finals
Golden State has dominated the entire series and is now one win away from reaching its sixth NBA Finals in eight years. It’s crazy to think that if it weren’t for both Thompson and Curry injuries in the last two years, the Warriors could be on the verge of reaching their eighth consecutive NBA finals, just as talented the team has been in the last eight years.
There is still work to be done, because Doncic and the rest of the Mavericks will certainly do everything in their power to try to extend this series and avoid an attempt. But since Warriors are conveniently in the driver’s seat right now, it’s not too early to start thinking about the next opponent on the calendar.
