A water bomber returned to the scene on CBS after a wildfire in the Lake Lawrence area reignited this afternoon.
Provincial fire duty officer Colin Carroll says the water bomber was on red alert in St John and was back in service early this afternoon.
Carroll says the fire remains contained, but the blaze has reignited as temperatures rise and winds pick up. He says they expected additional flare-ups as the day progressed and are now working on several blazes that have ignited since the early afternoon.
It looks like the wildfire at CBS has reignited. Hopefully we can deal with it before it gets out of hand. #nltraffic @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/AiwunPmSAb

Meanwhile, a man who was in the thick of the action at that big wildfire in Conception Bay South yesterday says anxiety is at an all-time high and he credits firefighters with saving property and possibly lives.
The fire broke out in Lawrence Pond at lunchtime on Sunday, prompting Leonard Hannebury to run out and knock on doors amid fears an evacuation could be ordered. Two crews with water bombers spent hours dumping water on the blaze before bringing it under control. Columns of smoke could be seen for miles.
Hannebury says it was amazing to see the water bombers fly straight through the fire. He didn’t knock on every door, but people were outside letting others know what was going on. He says he has lived all over Canada and has never experienced anything like this.
In addition to forestry, the Conception Bay South Fire Department also responded. Rob, who lost everything in the For McMurray fires a few years ago and now lives in Seal Cove, applauded the response to the fire, which he says made all the difference.
