The railways will continue to strike if the government does not comply with their demands, the RMT chief promised today.
The union continues with strikes on Network Rail and 13 railway operators on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday after talks on a multi-year payment deal failed.
He protested against job cuts, pay proposals and changes to pension plans.
Asked if there would be more strikes throughout the year, RMT’s secretary general Mick Lynch told Sky News: “If no agreement is reached, we will continue our campaign.” He added: “I think there will be a lot of unions voting all over the country because people can’t stand it anymore.
