Westmount Mall will open a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the month of July

A new COVID-19 vaccination clinic may soon open at a mall near you.

According to a press release issued by Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) on Tuesday, the latest mall-based COVID-19 vaccination clinic is due to open in south-west London in early July.

Westmount Shopping Center will be home to the newest vaccination clinic and is scheduled to open on July 7.

In the press release, MLHU said, due to the previous success of the clinics at CF Masonville Place and White Oaks Mall, “The opening of this newest COVID-19 vaccination clinic continues the health department’s strategy to create easy and convenient ways for area residents to optimal protection against the virus.”

The clinic will operate from a space next to Bulk Barrel, located near the entrance to the mall in one location, off Viscount Road.

It will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11.30am to 5.30pm throughout the month of July. It will work on a walk-in basis and people can get whatever dose they are currently eligible for.

Dr Alex Summers, MLHU’s health officer, said that with the summer weather and more people spending time outdoors, Londoners may not be thinking about COVID-19. But he hopes the new clinic will change that for the better.

“Our clinic at Westmount Shopping Center will allow people who have not received all the doses they are eligible to be vaccinated. This will provide additional protection against the COVID-19 virus that continues to circulate in our community.”

Similarly, Amanda Smith, property administrator at Westmount Shopping Center, is optimistic about the upcoming partnership with MLHU.

“The management of Westmount Shopping Center is pleased to partner with the Middlesex-London Health Department as they offer these vaccination services to our center and our community,” she said.

A list of MLHU’s COVID-19 vaccination clinics can be found on the health unit’s website.
