What the Liverpool locker room said after the victory in Newcastle

Liverpool won the decisive 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The victory kept Manchester City warm and put them at the top of the table, albeit only temporarily, as Pep Guardiola’s team beat Leeds United 4-0 in a later opening shot. Nabi Keita’s shot was enough for the Reds, as the midfielder scored his fourth goal of the campaign in all competitions.

The Guinean national wrote on social media after the match: “We continue, great performance of the boys.”

Captain Jordan Henderson and James Milner shared a similar statement, urging the team to continue to insist.

Milner, who introduced a player of the match, wrote: “Great victory when visiting a difficult place, we continue to insist #loveitnabylad.”

The captain repeated the same feeling, saying, “We keep insisting.”

Andy Robertson again showed an impressive performance, he said: “Three points and a clean net! Enjoy the reds over the weekend.”

Liverpool have already recorded the most clean sheets in the league this time with 21, City are behind with 20. Defender Virgil van Dyke added: “A huge victory!”

Jurgen Klopp’s team will hope to continue their good form with a victory over Villarreal on Tuesday night in the Champions League, with a place in the final next month. They will then return to the league next Saturday when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield in what will be another big clash.
