Apple’s next high-end smartphone should be released in just a few months, and that’s all we know about it so far.
It may not seem like a long time ago that Apple introduced the sleek new iPhone 13 Pro, but the months go by and we are getting closer and closer to its sequel.
Based on the reliable rumors we’ve seen so far, it looks like there will be a clear, qualitative difference this year between the standard iPhone series and the Pro series, so read on to see where the differences fall.
Release date
Apple’s new iPhones are usually coming out in early fall, so we expect the iPhone 14 Pro to be released in September and October this year, along with the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8.
Here are previous release dates in the Pro series for reference:
However, our first look at some of the software features on their way to the new phone will happen at WWDC 2022, Apple’s main annual developer conference.
Price
IPhone Pro variants inevitably come at a higher price than standard versions, as specifications have been significantly improved.
Last year, the iPhone 13 cost $ 799 / £ 779, while the iPhone 13 Pro cost $ 999 / £ 949. This is already a significant difference, but given that this time we expect an even greater discrepancy in the specifications, we would not rule out a greater price difference between the two devices. In addition, of course, we expect the release of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which will boast a larger screen and, of course, a higher price.
14: $ 79914 Max: $ 89914 Professional: $ 109914 Professional: $ 1199
Apple is currently considering this.
Production costs are rising and there should be more than $ 100 difference between the 14 Max and the 14 Pro.
It makes sense to me and I would not expect changes.
It will keep you posted.

Confirming our suspicions of a potential price jump, Twitter source LeaksApplePro has revealed rumors of pricing, with the iPhone 14 Pro selling for $ 1,099 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max selling for $ 1,199. The reason given was twofold; rising production costs and the need for a minimum price difference of $ 100 between standard and Pro models.
Design and display
There is one significant design change that is expected to arrive on the iPhone 14 Pro, and that is the introduction of a hole in the screen, not the wide band that has been present on Apple smartphones since the iPhone X. Although this may be a sight to behold for pedestrians for many Android users, this would be the first time we would see such a selfie camera arrangement on any iPhone, so we look forward to it.
We now believe that Apple will have a hole + pill design on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The smaller hole will not be invisible… The two-hole concept will be unique to Apple, as the slot is not similar to all Huawei pill models… Let’s see these new renders pic.twitter.com/Udt8cTKzPZ

The above tweet, published by Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, shows a layout of the new slot arrangement, which will obviously have not one but two holes for selfies. This design does not seem to be present in the standard iPhone 14 models, so there may be a very clear visual difference between the Pro and the standard versions.
Face ID should remain unaffected by such a change, so it looks like Touch ID will again be absent from the new iPhones. In this regard, Dylan K.T. writes: “I completely agree with the recent information provided by fellow Analysts and Liqueurs. A built-in Touch ID sensor will not be available on any iPhone 14 or Apple product this year, and ProMotion will be exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro.
As for the practicalities of the new iPhone, it is also rumored that it is becoming more durable this year, with MacRumors announcing that Apple will use a new titanium alloy chassis to make the new phones even more durable.
We can see some big changes not only in the hardware; According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the iPhone 14 Pro will always have a display on and a redesigned menu with gadgets on the lock screen. These changes will be introduced as part of the iOS 16 software update.
Camera
Major changes are also on the way to the camera system according to reliable sources.
Ming-Chi Kuo, one of Apple’s most prominent reporters, claims that the iPhone 14 Pro may have a 48-megapixel main sensor. This sensor will obviously be able to record 8K video, although most output images will have a 12-megapixel resolution once the pixel collection process is complete. Moreover, the same source claims that a periscope lens is also on the way to the iPhone range – but you will probably have to wait until 2023 for it to become a reality.
As for this redesigned front camera system, there will obviously be significant changes in its performance, with the South Korean edition of ET News claiming that LG Innotek will provide a selfie camera sensor that will offer autofocus.
(2/2) AF support and a lower f-number can provide a better shallow depth of field effect for selfie / portrait mode. In addition, AF can also improve the focus effect for FaceTime / video calling / live streaming.

This was seemingly confirmed by Ming-Chi Kuo in the tweets above, which provided more context for potential changes in aperture size.
productivity
In any normal year, we would expect a gradual upgrade of the processor for Apple’s new phones. However, it increasingly seems that this will not be a normal year by Apple standards.
Instead, it is claimed that the standard iPhone 14 will miss the new A16 Bionic chipset, which is reserved only for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. This is another feather in the hat of the Pro series, designed to distinguish it from its more accessible siblings as a first-class feature.
Once again, our best source for this is Kuo, which adds that all models in the series can be expected to have 6 GB of RAM built-in:

Meanwhile, GSM Arena said that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max boast up to 2TB of built-in storage, which would indeed be very generous capacity (although it is likely that the base models are still significantly lower).
