World No. 1 Iga Sviatek will open the match on the Central Court this afternoon, as the second day of Wimbledon begins, with Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams also in play today.
Following the sudden retirement of women’s defending champion Ash Barty, the All England Club chose Swiatek to take the traditional slot on the first Tuesday of the game. The champion of the French Open is in a series of 35 victories and faces the qualification Jana Fet.
Nadal will then return to Wimbledon for the first time since 2019, as the Spaniard continues his remarkable season and aspirations for calendar Grand Slam tournaments. Nadal opposed the chances of winning the Australian Open just weeks after almost retiring from the sport in January, followed by his 22nd French Grand Slam title earlier this month.
Williams will also make a long-awaited comeback as the seven-time Wimbledon champion plays her first singles match since last year’s tournament. Williams was forced to withdraw from her match in the first round of SW19 after tearing her thigh and the 40-year-old is on a remarkable path back.

The BBC will once again provide full coverage of Wimbledon, in the last year of Sue Barker’s performance at the championship. The report will start on BBC Two at 11:00 BST during the first two days of the game, with BBC One starting at 13:45. The action will also be available for viewing on BBC iPlayer, while the BBC Sport website will show action from all over the territory. .
