When the going got tough for Ons Jabeur, her positive mindset got her through Wimbledon. The world No. 2 had to dig to the depths of her resolve after falling behind the dangerous Marie Buzkova on Center Court. She finished by showing off her fun game and showing why she is such a compelling and popular contender for the women’s title. To qualify for her first Grand Slam semi-final, she will play her good friend Tatiana Maria of Germany for a place in Saturday’s final.
Jabeur, the tournament favorite after the elimination of Iga Swiatek, reached the quarter-finals without dropping a set and as the last remaining seed in the bottom half of the draw. After cruising through her opening three games, the Tunisian showed courage in her last two and had to come from behind for the first time in a fortnight to hold off Buzkova’s progress.

The 34-year-old’s run to the last eight has already been one of the most notable storylines of a fortnight, with the world number 103, who missed Wimbledon last year as she gave birth to her second child, knocking out fifth seed Maria Sakkara and the former Open champion of France Jelena Ostapenko. The Spaniard continued his quest for a calendar slam with a straight set victory over Bottic van de Zandshulp in the fourth round.
Fritz has been in fine form this fortnight, yet to drop a set en route to his first Grand Slam quarter-final, and the American comfortably dispatched Jason Kubler in the fourth round.

The Australian endured a torrid tournament, surviving a five-set thriller against Paul Jubb in the first round and defeating fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in a fierce encounter.
