Winnipeg Police: A stroller with a baby inside overturned during the theft

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a woman’s purse and car were stolen and a pram with a child inside was torn down.

The incident happened on Friday around 2 pm, when a woman was robbed at the entrance to a library in the St. John neighborhood.

According to the Winnipeg Police Department, the woman was with her baby when two unknown men confronted her and grabbed her bag.

Police said the woman was still hanging from her bag, so she was eventually dragged. Officers found that the stroller with the child inside had also been torn down.

The suspects then fled in their wallets, but returned shortly afterwards with the stolen keys from the woman’s car.

Police say passers-by tried to stop the suspects from stealing the car, but one of the suspects eventually pointed a gun at a passerby. The suspects then drove away in the stolen car.

Winnipeg police met with the victim, who did not seek medical help for herself or her child.

On Saturday, officers saw the stolen car drive near Salter Street and Powers Street and tried to stop it.

When the car slowed down, the man jumped out and ran away. After a brief chase, police caught the suspect and took him into custody.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with a number of crimes, including armed robbery with a firearm. The second suspect was not detained.

None of the allegations in this incident have been proven in court.
