Winnipeg Police: A suspect is wanted for two murders

Winnipeg Police Department officials are looking for a suspect who is wanted for two murders.

On Thursday, police said they had issued a second-degree murder warrant for Leah Carroll Clifton, 34, in the death of Doris Lydia Trout, 25.

Trout’s body was found in the common area of an apartment building on Block 400 on Kennedy Street in May.

Police note that Clifton is also wanted for the murder of Heather Beardy in February 2022, who was found dead in block 400 on Furby Street.

Clifton’s current whereabouts remain unknown, and police are asking the public for help in locating her. Officials say she is “actively avoiding the police”.

Police describe Clifton as five feet and six, 140 to 150 pounds, with an average physique. She has a “RIP DEAN” tattoo on the right side of her neck. Officials say she is known to have changed her appearance, including her hair color.

Officials remind the public that Clifton is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Clifton is one of two suspects in Trout’s death, with homicide investigators arresting and accusing 27-year-old Megan Lee Boliu of second-degree murder in the death of a 25-year-old woman. Beaulieu is also accused of failing to appear in court (release order) and failing to comply with a probation order,

The charges against Clifton and Bollio have not been proven in court.

According to Const. Claude Chancey of the Winnipeg Police Department said the suspects were involved in a “drug subculture.”

“When we have people who are involved in the drug subculture, it’s no different that they are together in different places and circumstances,” he told a news conference on Thursday.

Anyone with information on Clifton’s whereabouts has been asked to call Winnipeg Police Department at 204-986-6508, Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 or 911. Investigators believe she is in Winnipeg.

“The reason we’re here and we want public help is Mrs. Clifton, she knows she’s wanted by the police. “She is actively evading the police,” Chansi said.

“The murder investigators have worked hard to try to arrest her and bring her to justice.”
