Police are releasing a description of a suspect who attacked a woman after dragging her off a trail in Mount Hamilton on Wednesday, and are also offering safety tips.
Hamilton police say they are investigating an “unprovoked attack by a stranger.” Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, a woman was walking in the area of Upper Paradise Road and Donnici Drive when she was approached by an unknown man. The suspect dragged her off the trail. The ensuing assault was interrupted by witnesses passing by. The male fled on foot south toward Upper Paradise.
The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 18 and 24. He was about 6 feet tall and weighed 175 pounds with a lean, athletic build. He has black curly hair on top and short on the sides. He was wearing a dark blue t-shirt and black or dark blue baggy jogging pants. He was wearing a “cross-body bag.”

Police say they are encouraging the public to consider the following safety tips when using the paths and walkways. They include.
- Walk or run with a partner whenever possible
- Tell someone the route you’re taking and the expected time you’ll be gone
- Avoid poorly lit trails or running/walking after dark
- Stick to public paths when running/walking or cycling alone
- Carry a cell phone or personal alarm device
- Run/walk without headphones
- If confronted, be loud and call for help.
