Catherine Reitman’s comedy sitcom Workin ‘Moms is set to end its upcoming seventh season.
The daughter of the late Hollywood director Ivan Reitman wrote, directed and starred in the sitcom, which launched on the CBC network in Canada in 2017, before Netflix took the Canadian import two years later. Last season will debut on CBC and CBC Gem in the winter of 2023, followed by a release on Netflix elsewhere in the world.
Wolf + Rabbit Entertainment is working in Toronto for the last season, which will consist of 13 half-hour episodes.
“So, with love and gratitude, I announce the seventh season as our last season. Many thanks to our partners, CBC and Netflix, for standing behind a show that points a flashlight to the darkest corners of motherhood. To those of you who stopped me on the street to share my love for the show – I see you. I hear you. Thank you too. Take them, cheats, “Reitman said in a statement.
Reitman will return to the role last season alongside Danny Kind, Jesalin Wanlim, Philip Sternberg, Ryan Belleville, Sarah McQueen, Sadie Munro, Peter Kelleghan, Nicki Duvall and Enuka Okuma as Sloane Mitchell.
The creator and star also posted a video on Twitter, sharing the news, calling the “fun” and “deeply exciting” final season a “love letter” to both fans and her father, who died earlier this year. The previous season ended disastrously.
