A 15-year-old boy has been accused of mischief and threats after an Ajax high school was blocked on Monday afternoon following an alleged online threat.
The incident happened at Notre Dame Catholic High School on 1375 Harwood Ave. N., north of Rossland Road.
Durham regional police said officers were present at the scene around 2:35 p.m. after a report that the school had received a “threat of violence.”
No casualties were reported.
As a precautionary measure, Notre Dame and the J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate, whose building borders this school, were locked up. The lock was lifted shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Police said their investigation established “the source of the threat and one student was detained” a little later.
The accused, whose identity cannot be revealed under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act, was released on bail.
