8 law enforcement agencies responded to the Slinger incident; a student has been detained

May 27, 2022 – Slinger, WI – Today, May 27, 2022, at 11:47 a.m., employees were sent to Slinger Middle School, 521 Olympic Drive, Slinger, WI, for a report on a student who walks with others students and shouts that he had a gun entering the school by stairs.

Upon arrival, the first two officers entered the school and began searching for suspects. After additional police officers arrived at the scene, police officers managed to secure the corridors until the subject was identified as the person claiming to have a gun. This person, as well as two others he was with, were removed from the classrooms by law enforcement and taken to the school’s office for an interview.

One of the subjects, a student at the school, admitted that he said he had a gun, but did not know that he had made a mistake by saying so. The student has been detained and the staff is working with the reception of minors. Officers were able to confirm that the student did not have a gun at any time.

The school was left blocked for a period of time, which allowed on-site staff to search the school, confirming that all was well.

The Slinger High School administration, assisted by law enforcement, has drawn up a plan to apologize to students for the day of their parents who arrived at the scene or by bus as usual.

The Slinger Police Department was assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Hartford Police Department, the Jackson Police Department, the West Bend Police Department, the Germantown Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Slinger Fire and Spillite Spa saving Lifestar and others.
