Petr Cech will step down as technical and performance adviser at Chelsea Football news

Petr Cech will step down as technical advisor and performance adviser at Chelsea on 30 June.

Cech was the last to leave the club after Todd Boehly-Clearlake took over after chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaya left.

Cech said: “It has been a great privilege to play this role at Chelsea for the last three years. With the club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time to retire. I am glad that the club is now in an excellent position with the new owners and I am confident of his future success both on and off the field. “

Todd Boelli, chairman and co-controlling owner, said: “Peter is an important member of Chelsea’s family. We understand his decision to step down and thank him for his contribution as a counselor and his commitment to the club and our community. We wish him all the best. “

Cech was appointed three years ago to provide advice and guidance on all matters related to football and performance at Chelsea, after playing 333 times for the club.

Boelli was appointed chairman and interim sports director after Buck and Granovskaya left last week.

Granovskaya, who became known as one of the most difficult negotiators in football during Roman Abramovich’s rule, will remain available to support Boelli during the current transfer window. Buck will continue to support the club as a senior advisor.

As acting sports director, it is understood that Boelli has already played his part, playing a key role in Romelu Lukaku’s decision to return to Inter Milan on loan.

Chelsea decided to let the Belgian international leave the club after talks between Boelli and head coach Thomas Tuchel and Boelli and the player.

Boehly and Tuchel wanted to quickly decide Lukaku’s future so they could focus on strengthening the team this summer.

A source close to Edwards told Sky Sports News that since the 42-year-old’s decision to leave was made public in November last year, he has been approached by Europe’s strongest teams – Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in particular – and hedge funds and billionaires who want to buy clubs and let him manage them.

With Marina Granovskaya leaving for Chelsea, Edwards is interested in becoming their transfer manager, especially given that Boelli is a fan of his overhaul in Liverpool, which extends to making Anfield a leader in analysis and organization. of the relocation to a training center worth £ 50 million.
