Shocking footage shows the moment when the flames tore a warehouse in Oldham. More than 70 worried residents called 999 after The Tile Shop caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
In a dramatic video shared on Twitter at 4 a.m., flames can be seen through the windows of the Bower Street building as huge clouds of black smoke rise into the sky. So far, firefighters have been on the scene for almost two hours, initially warned at 2.15am.
Ten fire engines from all over Manchester and more than 50 firefighters were present, along with three aircraft. It took the crews about six hours to control it, and by 8:30 a.m. they began to calm down.

The photos taken afterwards also reveal the devastating effect of the fire, which can be seen for miles. The interior of the building, which could be seen through the windows, looked gutted.
The roof also looked badly damaged, the sign had melted, and there were visible signs of scorching and fire outside.

This was said by a spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police (GMP). Manchester evening news that the incident “does not seem” arson. MEN also contacted The Tile Shop, but a spokesman said: “No one is available for comment at this time.”
Praising the efforts of the fire crews present, the manager of the Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) Ben Levy said: “Our firefighters worked tirelessly at night to control the fire and minimize the impact on the local area. In addition to firefighters at the scene, our Northwest Fire Control operators received nearly 70,999 calls from concerned members of the public about a major fire.

“As residents wake up, there will be residual smoke in the area. We advise people to be careful.
“The fire has already been contained, but firefighters will remain on the scene until it is completely extinguished. I would like to thank everyone involved in the response to this incident, both GMFRS and partners, for their efforts this morning. “
