A man was stabbed in broad daylight at a gas station in Vancouver

A 67-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries, and a 61-year-old man was arrested after a very public assault early in the morning at a gas station in East Vancouver.

The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. on June 1 at a gas station located at 3502 East Hastings St., not far from the eastern end of the city. Police say it started when a man used his car to hit a pedestrian on a gas station property.

“He then got out of the car and allegedly chased several people while holding a knife and machete,” the VPD said in a statement. “He reportedly hit a passer-by, then turned his attention to the pedestrian, stabbing him in the neck and back.”

Police arrived on the scene as the suspect tried to steal a motorcycle parked near the gas station exit.

“We don’t know if there was a motive for this attack, and the fact that it seems arbitrary and unprovoked is extremely worrying,” Const said. Tanya Visintin in the edition. “The victims and the suspect do not know each other and do not appear to have had significant interactions before the attack.

Police say the same car fled police earlier on June 1st.

“Before the accident, around 1:30 a.m., a man was seen driving the same vehicle incorrectly, and he fled police in several Vancouver subway cities,” Visintin said. “When the car was taken away by the police, it is alleged that the driver crashed into the police vehicle and fled again.”

Footage of part of the incident was shared on social media before being deleted. The video shows a man walking around the pumps with what looks like a knife and a machete in his hands. Many voices can be heard, including a man screaming in pain and another man shouting at people to “support the devil.”

The man with the weapon moves towards the others as if threatening them. People quickly run away from close range.

Without anyone nearby, he gets on a motorcycle parked at the gas station exit, as if preparing to leave. As he sits on the bike, more shouts can be heard from one side and he gets off the bike.

He then lay down on the ground, spread out, and a moment later police officers approached him.

At the same time, the video looks at the scene closer to the pumps. Two people are seen on the ground, a short distance from each other. One who appears to be a man is holding his head.

Another is lying on the ground with a neon yellow protective jacket with people caring for him. The man who shot the video says one of the men was stabbed.

“And he was stabbed in the back,” said the cameraman. Paramedics are called.

The footage then shows the weapons on the ground: one appears to be a long kitchen knife, while the other is a longer blade with a significant curve at the end.
