A “massive” shootout in South Philly kills two men – NBC10 Philadelphia

A video obtained by NBC10 shows the chaos on a street in South Philadelphia after a deadly shootout that caused neighbors to run into cover last Thursday night.

Philadelphia police say two men were killed and two others were injured in a shooting at Block 1200 on South Bucknell Street. At least 30 shots were fired in what investigators call a “mass” shootout in the Grace Ferry neighborhood.

Police say they are looking for four people involved in the deadly violence.

The video, received by NBC10 from police sources, shows the moments after three men climbed up the block and started firing. The camera on Ring’s doorbell caught bullets flying down the street, fleeing neighbors, and a man fighting to hide under a car.

The video of the shooting of South Bucknell Street in Grays Ferry, obtained by NBC10, is blurred and frozen in some places due to its graphic nature.

The video shows a man responding to one of the shooters, but he was shot and fell. Another shooter then shot 36-year-old Rahim Hargust and 36-year-old Vincent Jackson, both on the ground.

Both later died at the hospital, police said.

Hargust’s widow remembers agonizing moments: “And I kept shouting where my husband was? And when his sister came out of his grandmother’s door, he was lying on the ground and the cops picked him up and put him in the cop car. “

She described her husband of 10 years as a loving, modest family man. Now she said she wanted justice.

“You took some precious lives, you endangered the children with that [were] I’m starting summer here, “said Hargust’s wife. “You destroyed my family, his family, his mother, his father, his brothers and sisters. It will take us a long time to overcome this senseless murder.

Two other men, both about 20 years old, were injured and hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

Police are looking for four suspected shooters and a silver Hyundai Sonata 2015 or 2017. Investigators said they believe armed men came to the block to kill Hargust and Jackson.

As of Monday afternoon, at least 251 people had been killed in Philadelphia, police said. That’s 6% less than last year, which turned out to be the deadliest in history.
