A second military plane crashed in the same area in which the Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey crashed on Wednesday.
But every serviceman aboard a Navy helicopter that crashed on Thursday appears to have survived, according to Navy officials. One crew member on board had to be transported to a local hospital.
The crash happened at a Navy training ground near El Centro, California, less than 100 miles from Wednesday’s crash.
“I can confirm that a US Navy helicopter crashed today at a US Navy training ground near El Centro, California. According to our initial reports, all four of the crew on board survived the crash, “said Commander Zach Harel, spokesman for Commander, Navy. “One of the crew received a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital.”
El Centro Naval Air Force posted a statement on its Facebook page.
The crash on Thursday comes after all five Marines aboard the MV-22B Osprey died on Wednesday after the plane crashed in a desert in Southern California, military officials said. An investigation is underway.
