A woman arrested in St. John’s for failing to pay a taxi driver

A young woman is facing charges after dropping a taxi yesterday afternoon.

Shortly after 3 p.m., police on patrol in the Kenmount Road area saw a woman get out of a taxi and run away before the taxi driver alerted police and informed them that the woman had not paid her fee.

The policeman chases the woman in a local business, where a small fight breaks out.

The 19-year-old woman is accused of assaulting a police officer, public mischief, obstruction, resisting arrest and violating a release and probation order.

She was detained for trial this morning.
