Aaron Judge has criticized Yankee teammate Josh Donaldson for calling the Chicago White Sox short stop Tim Anderson “Jackie”, a reference to Jackie Robinson that costs Donaldson a one-game suspension and a fine.
“It’s hard,” Judge said after Monday’s 6-4 loss to Baltimore in Saturday’s incident in the Bronx, which led to the elimination.
“Joke or not, I don’t think it’s the right thing to do there,” Judge said of Donaldson’s repeated call of Anderson, who is black, “Jackie,” in what Donaldson said was an attempt to defuse tensions. the two almost clashed after the two met when the teams met in Chicago last weekend.
“Given the story, especially the Chicago series and the small beef between Anderson and [Donaldson]Said the judge. “Anderson is one of the best short stops in the game and is a big part of MLB and how we can develop the game. [Donaldson] getting a stop for a game … I don’t know. He made a mistake, he admitted it and we have to move on. ”

The judge said Donaldson spoke with the team in an attempt to explain his behavior, citing a 2019 Sports Illustrated article in which Anderson said, “I feel like today’s Jackie Robinson.”
But as long as Judd seemed ready to leave the controversy in the past, he will not be forgotten.
“He’s a professional,” Judge told Donaldson. “He talked to all of us and explained what he meant. But I still don’t think it was the right move. ”
The judge added: “It’s time to move on.”
“We are older men,” he said. “He admitted what he did. That’s all you can ask for, especially when we play games every day. I can’t sit here and linger too long. “You learn from him when you make a mistake.”
Aaron Boone said he did not agree with MLB’s decision to ban Donaldson, although he respected the league’s process.
“They did their due diligence and did what was difficult,” the manager said. “I do not agree with that. I don’t think that’s a reason to stop. ”
