Johnny Depp’s bodyguards claim that Amber Heard “hit” the actor from “Pirates of the Caribbean” in the face while he is facing a defamation lawsuit against the former couple.

The 58-year-old is suing his ex-wife for $ 50 million (£ 39 million) for a post she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018, discussing her surviving domestic violence.

Although the name is not mentioned in the article, his lawyers told him that he falsely hinted that he had physically and sexually abused her – while the 36-year-old was suing for $ 100 million (£ 76 million), claiming that her ex-partner he slandered her by calling her a liar.

Appearing on video at the Fairfax Virginia Courthouse in Los Angeles earlier today, security guard Travis McGivern told the jury that Hurd once punched her ex-husband in the face, recalling how “shocked” his client was.

He said the alleged quarrel took place on March 23, 2015, and testified that he “heard and saw a closed fist contacting Mr. Depp on the left side of his face,” noting that it was Hurd’s fist.

“The initial look on his face somewhat reflects mine, a look of shock,” he said.

“It’s my job [to] to ensure the safety and well-being of my clients, and I felt as if I had not done so. “

He claims that Depp “had a nice little glow” from the alleged blow and that his face was red and swollen – but he never responded to the “incident”.

During the same argument at their penthouse in Los Angeles, McGivern said he saw Hurd throw a Red Bull box that hit Depp in the back.

“The verbal attack continued from both of them,” he said, telling the court that Depp was “giving as well as he received.”

He said Hurd then threw something else and at one point she spat.

Speaking in court, he recalled that their argument included “a lot of gossip and F bombs”.

The guard said Hurd would call Depp “damn dad, damn it” and “damn ***” [Depp] call her, too. ‘

“Say it, she vomited it,” he said, adding that he did not remember what the dispute was about, but the word F was my favorite word and they threw it to the point where I was uncomfortable. ‘

The process, which began with a jury selection on April 11, is expected to last about seven weeks.

Depp took a position in the courtroom along with various witnesses, including his former bodyguard and therapist for their ex-couple.

Hurd was supposed to be the first witness in the defense, but now reports suggest she will be second in the podium as her team “changes tactics”.

The process continues.
