White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan tested positive for COVID-19, the National Security Council said Saturday.

“National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan tested positive for COVID-19 today,” NSC spokesman Adrien Watson said in a statement. “He is asymptomatic and has not been in close contact with the president.”

Sullivan’s positive test comes days after the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the health secretary Xavier Besera’s test is positive for coronavirus.

On Thursday, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre argued with NBC reporter Peter Alexander about the timing of Biden’s latest coronavirus test.

“It’s a regular rhythm. That’s what we do. We’ll share, according to the CDC, when he was a close contact and he wasn’t a close contact. If he was a close contact, we’ll let you know,” Jean-Pierre said when asked. for Biden’s recent test schedule.

When pressed again for the exact date, as usual, she declined to answer, instead reiterating that Biden was tested every week.
