Mike Somers, chief executive of the American Petroleum Institute, has criticized the Biden administration for sending “mixed messages” about oil production, as the average national gas price has reached $ 5 a gallon. At Fox & Friends on Thursday, Somers called on the administration to support the industry and allow additional oil production to fight high costs.

MIKE SUMERS: All they have to do is actually do two things. They need to change the tone. They need to start talking about the nature of this industry in the future. And they also need to adopt policies that they will actually achieve produce more oil and gas here in the United States.
They have not done any of these things. In fact, the mixed messages we receive from this administration. It’s really amazing when you have Gina McCarthy on the one hand and John Kerry on the one hand who say that this industry should be over by 2030. And then you have Jennifer Granholm and the president who say that we need to produce more. Which is?
