The 122nd US Open kicks off on Thursday, with the national championship held at one of the oldest golf courses in the United States. The Brooklyn, Massachusetts Country Club was honored to host its fourth U.S. Open for the first time since Curtis Strange defeated Nick Faldo in 1988.
These two legends of the game give way to new ones as world number 3 Rory McIlroy begins his quest for top number 5 in the early hours of the first round. He will be joined by 2021 Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama and Olympic gold medalist Xander Schaufele in a pair of dynamite. However, McIlroy is not the only person who wants to make history. Brooks Koepka is trying to take his fifth major championship and third US Open. Koepka was one of the few afternoon headliners when he started in a pair with world number 1 Scotty Scheffler and players’ champion Cameron Smith.
