Europhiles were given something to cheer on as they headed to the long anniversary celebration when Conservative Senior MP Tobias Eloud made a surprising call on Britain to rejoin the EU’s single market.
All but the most ardent, waving blue and gold flags had given up hope that Britain would one day make a significant return to the bloc’s institutions.
The Tories expelled all their supporters from Brussels during the Brexit parliamentary wars from 2016 to 2019. Labor, hurt by the loss of so many of these battles, refused to even talk about it.
